Next Reign: Kingdom Prestige Upgrade Tiers
What to buy at one point, what to wait to six for, and what to leave for the later tree.
Handing the crown is the only reset that matters in Next Reign: Kingdom. You earn prestige points the first time you collect 100 of a resource type across all reigns, again at 100,000, and at collection checkpoints in between. The in-game advice is blunt: if the current reign is crawling, consider a reset, and give it a try after six points. Demo VODs still peek the tree at one point. Both habits are real. This page ranks the early band of the 100-plus upgrade tree for those two moments, then flags later picks that change the rebuild. Exact later-tree costs beyond what tooltips have shown are not invented here. Pair the letters with the prestige guide and the click-order on the prestige planner. Army letters stay on the unit tier list.
First-reset board (the 1-point and 6-point band)
| Pick | Cost band | Tier | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auto start trading quests | Early (1) | S | Removes a click tax the moment the market exists. Favor keeps moving while you build. |
| Farmer yield after multipliers (about +200%) | Early (1) | S | Wheat is the first bottleneck. This snowballs houses and every worker you still have to hire. |
| Cheaper buildings (about 25%) | Early / 6 | S | Wood and stone are the tax on every rebuild. A discount here is a faster second reign, not a cosmetic. |
| Auto craft | 6 | A | Worth it once bars and tools exist. Dead weight if you reset before the smelter. |
| Starting workers +5 | Early (1) | A | Tempo. You feel it in the first minute. You do not feel it at hour three. |
| Extra house space | 6 | A | Housing is the silent cap. Two extra beds per house is a worker you did not have to place another cottage for. |
| Warehouse extra storage | 6 | A | Stops the “I made it but I cannot hold it” stall. Buy when caps, not vanity, are the problem. |
| Cheaper workers | Early / 6 | A | Pairs with farmer yield. Hiring should not be the thing that eats the wood you need for the next house. |
| Starting stock +100 per type | Early (1) | B | Convenient. Nookrium skipped it and was right to. It does not print workers. |
| Start with 250 wheat / 150 wood / 80 stone | 6 | B | Smooth opener, steep opportunity cost. Take it if you already own the S picks and still have six sitting there. |
The 200%, +5 workers, +100 stock, +25% building cost, +250/+150/+80 starter kit, extra house space, and extra warehouse space are tooltip values from demo and launch-week play. They are not datamined hidden formulas. If a patch changes a number, believe the tooltip in your book HUD.
One point versus six
A one-point crown is a tutorial for the tutorial. You keep the milestones you already banked (that first 100 wheat still counts next reign), you lose the buildings and hired workers of the current field, and you spend a single point on something that makes the next opening less sticky. The only 1-point spends this page likes are auto trade and farmer yield. Starting workers is the respectable third. Starting stock is the trap that feels like progress because the numbers on the left go up before any farmer exists.
A six-point crown is the first real reset. The tree opens the next band: auto craft, house space, warehouse space, cheaper buildings if you have not taken them, and the starter-resource node that costs the whole six by itself. The planner’s rule of thumb is the same as the tutorial’s: if you can see six points without the run already being dead, wait. If you are drowning in manual trade clicks at two points, take auto trade and go back to the field. Do not sit in a dead reign hunting 100,000 of a resource you cannot print.
Refund exists on the prestige screen. Use it when you bought starting stock on impulse and want farmer yield instead. Do not use it as a plan.
Later-tree board (after the rebuild is a known skill)
Once you have done a couple of crowns, the value of “make the opening nicer” drops and the value of “skip the opening” rises. Launch-week tooltips already show a cluster that starts future reigns with extra farmers, lumberjacks, and miners, and another that drops you in with extra houses, warehouses, an iron smelter, and a tool smithy. Those are S for later resets because they delete the boring twenty minutes, not because they have a bigger percentage sign.
| Pick | When it comes online | Tier | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Start with extra farmers / houses / smelter / smithy | Later | S | Skips the rebuild. This is what “next reign” is for. |
| Auto combat quests | Later | S | Combat is the other click tax. Once peasants and a front exist, the quest log should not need a babysitter. |
| 25 workers of one type: collection up (about +10%) | Mid | A | A threshold bonus. It wants you to actually fill houses, which is already the correct play. |
| 50 workers of one type: collection up (about +15%) | Mid / late | A | Same idea, bigger. Dead if you never scale a job that high. |
| Cheaper combat units / extra combat rewards | Mid | A | Spend here when the unit tier list is the bottleneck, not when wheat is red. |
| Trading cooldown down / trade rewards up | Mid | B | Favor matters. It does not outrun farmer yield or cheap buildings on a first reset. |
| Crafting output and crafting-time bonuses | Mid | A | Bars and tools are the late early-game. Take these when the smelter is the plan, not when you still hand-click wheat. |
| Bookmarks and resource-trend UI | Anytime | C | Sanity, not power. F and G bookmarks are great. They do not print a prestige point. |
Auto combat does not replace formation skill. It replaces reopening the quest panel. You still need a tank on the contact tiles for the Blade Queen. You still need walls before the army is a real engine. The later tree makes a good army cheaper to keep running; it does not make a peasant blob into a shield knight.
What not to buy first
Maximum stock without maximum workers is a bigger bucket for a trickle. Starter resources that cost six points are a whole reset’s budget for a buffer you will recraft in minutes once farmers are boosted. Combat reward nodes before you have a line of defense are a percentage of zero. UI nodes are for the reign where you already know the bottleneck and are tired of hunting buttons.
A clean first six, if the tree presents them in reach:
- Auto trade.
- Farmer yield.
- Cheaper buildings or cheaper workers — whichever is actually eating your wood.
- Starting workers if the opening still feels empty.
- Extra house space if you already bounce off population.
- Auto craft only if you have seen the smelter this run and know you will see it next run.
That list is a ranking, not a promise that every save shows those six nodes in that order. Buy what the tree actually opened. If the only affordable node is starting stock, take it and refund later rather than idling for a prettier node that is still locked.
The full-release meta will shuffle mid-tree combat nodes first, because that is where new hours go. The first-reset S picks are the least likely to move: wheat, clicks, and build cost have been the demo’s three taxes since spring 2026. For the checklist version of this page — when to click the crown, what you keep, what you lose — use the prestige planner. For the army those points eventually buy, go back to units.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for new rulers and returning prestige runners.
Should I prestige at one point or wait for six?
Wait for six unless manual trades are already drowning you. The unit tier list is not the reason to reset early — click tax is.
What are the first three buys?
Auto trade, farmer yield, then cheaper buildings or cheaper workers. Starter stock can wait; house space is the next A on this page and on buildings.
When do combat prestige picks outrank economy?
After a real front exists. Read units first; cheaper peasants do not beat a missing shield tank.
Is the start-with-smelter node a first-reset buy?
No. It is later-tree S. First reset should make wheat and houses cheaper — see buildings for why that rebuild still needs cottages.
Do I keep my army when I hand the crown?
No. Units and buildings of the current reign go away. Prestige upgrades stay. Rebuild order is the building priority list.
